Gong Weiying, who got married at the age of 22, received over 20 rabbits from his mother and officially began his journey of raising rabbits.
1999年，已在當(dāng)?shù)仞B(yǎng)兔行業(yè)小有成就的他進(jìn)一步擴(kuò)大養(yǎng)殖場的規(guī)模，從老家搬到了蒙陰縣城，長毛兔規(guī)模已從初的20只發(fā)展到上千只。有了一定的資金積累，公為迎雇了一批工人養(yǎng)兔，他則把精力放在養(yǎng)兔的“發(fā)明創(chuàng)造”上。他研制的電動(dòng)摟毛器，與吊掛式剪毛法相結(jié)合，解決了長毛兔剪毛費(fèi)工費(fèi)時(shí)等難題，2014年獲實(shí)用新型和外觀設(shè)計(jì)兩項(xiàng)。他結(jié)合庭院客觀條件發(fā)明的“寶塔兔籠”，具有占地面積小、自助喂料、節(jié)約用工等優(yōu)點(diǎn)，2016年獲外觀設(shè)計(jì)。

The electric hair clipper he developed, combined with the hanging shearing method, solved the problems of time-consuming and labor-intensive shearing for long haired rabbits. In 2014, it obtained two national utility model and design patents. He invented the "Baota Rabbit Cage" based on the objective conditions of the courtyard, which has the advantages of small footprint, self-service feeding, and labor saving. It obtained a national design patent in 2016.
2012年后，在長毛兔市場普遍追求高產(chǎn)、兔毛粗直壯的大背景下，他另辟蹊徑，花七八年時(shí)間，選育出絨毛性長毛兔。所產(chǎn)兔絨細(xì)密纖長，被稱為“纖維中的軟黃金”，先后推廣到河北、山西、遼寧等地。近年來，兔毛行情低迷，他積極探索，又選育出“觀賞產(chǎn)絨多用兔”，帶動(dòng)蒙陰當(dāng)?shù)仞B(yǎng)殖戶共同致富。
